The conditions behind most fertility consultations
A diagnosis is a starting point, not a verdict. These pages explain what each condition means for fertility and how Dr. Shami approaches it.
Most couples who come to Dr. Shami already carry a label: PCOS, low AMH, endometriosis, or the frustrating word “unexplained”. Her first job is to check whether the label is right, and her second is to explain what it actually changes for you.
Each condition page is written for the patient reading at night, in plain language. Where a treatment is mentioned, it links to the service page that describes it. Nothing here replaces a consultation, and Dr. Shami will always tell you where your own case differs.
- PMOS (formerly PCOS)Polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome: the new name, the same patients.
- Low ovarian reserveFewer eggs does not mean no options. It means the plan matters more.
- Unexplained infertilityWhen every test is normal and nothing is happening.
- EndometriosisPain, cycles and fertility, treated as one story.
