A fertility doctor who treats the couple, not the diagnosis

Where she comes from

Dr. Shami earned her medical degree at the American University of Beirut in 2008 and completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology there. She went on to earn ECFMG certification and ACGME qualification in the United States before turning fully to reproductive medicine.

In 2012 she joined Fakih IVF in Dubai, one of the first private IVF centres in the city, where she has worked alongside Dr. Michael Fakih. She later completed an Executive MBA at the American University in Dubai. She is a member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine.

What she is known for

Colleagues describe her by her ethics and her standards of patient care. Patients describe her as clear, calm and easy to talk to. Her clinical interests are the cases that need more than a protocol: unexplained infertility, recurrent implantation failure, low ovarian reserve, endometriosis, and PMOS, the condition previously known as PCOS.

She consults in English and Arabic, at two Dubai clinics and online, and sees couples from the UAE, the wider region, and further abroad.
